November the 9th: The people of Ejaa community, in Itabono-Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State were thrown into confusion yesterday when a group of young men took a corpse of a man who allegedly died mysteriously to the house of another man, identified as Mr. George Onuh and abandoned the corpse there till the early hours of today (Saturday), alleging that Mr. George was responsible for the deceased’s death. November the 10th: A 30-year-old woman of Nuwakot was abused and expelled from her house by no other than her own family over allegation of practicing witchcraft. Police said Ashadevi Nepali of Sundaradevi VDC-7, Tame, was burnt with hot iron and thrashed black and blue before being expelled from her house. Her in-laws, including her husband Sanubabu Nepali, had meted out the inhuman treatment accusing her of being a ‘witch’. Read more here.

11th of November: A 6-month-old baby’s mutilated body has been found in Diepsloot. The baby’s mother reported the death to police early on Sunday morning, claiming that her child had been eaten by rats, but when police arrived on the scene the mother had disappeared. Read more here.
11th of November: Under an initiative of the Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA), various state government agencies have come together to prepare a comprehensive road map to eliminate the menace. The decision to prepare the road map was taken at a meeting held here on November the 6th, which was chaired by former executive chairman of ASLSA Justice Iqbal Ahmed Ansari and attended by representatives from the social welfare department, police, district authorities, health and family welfare department, among others. Justice Ansari relinquished the executive chairman’s post a couple of days ago after he was shifted from Gauhati High Court to Patna High Court. Read more here.
12th of November: A 39-year-old widow was allegedly thrashed brutally by her in-laws, who branded her as a witch in Bhinar village of Vansada taluka in Navsari district. The woman was branded witch as her sister-in-law’s husband suffered from diabetes and her husband died after prolonged illness in early 2012. Read more here.
November the 12th: On November the 1st police recovered the body of 45 year old Yeshwant Shanya Wadu, from Dongripada hamlet of Vaki, with multiple injuries. The body was sent for postmortem and a case of accidental death was registered at that time. However, the deceased’s son later lodged a complaint with police stating that his parents were brutally beaten by fellow villager – Nilesh Mohan Lolka, aged 25, as he suspected them of practising witchcraft.
