An only child was still reeling from shock yesterday after her father was taken by a group of men and died from injuries he came home with on Monday night.
Manisha Devi, 16, said she could not believe that her dad and closest friend — Vasu Dewan Naidu — had been removed from her life. The deceased, of Nawaicoba settlement in Nadi, was alleged to have been attacked by men who suspected him of practising witchcraft.

Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the development in an interview with the ZANIS in Chinsali .
Mr. Kapeso identified the deceased as Gleson Siwanzi who was shot by unknown people on suspicion of practicing witchcraft adding that no suspects have been arrested yet.
Mr Kapeso has since advised people to exercise responsibility and appreciate the elderly in their community.

Police in Papua New Guinea have detained 180 people after a witch hunt that left six people dead, including two children.
Several hundred men from Raicoast village in Madang province descended on Sasiko village, looking for people they believed to be sorcerers. Local media reports say the violent rampage went on for most of Monday.
Witnesses say one man killed was an innocent bystander on his way to work, while two children under the age of five were also reportedly killed.

In an incident that left the court gallery shell shocked, an elderly Eskbank farm woman ran amok after attacking her mother- in- law with an axe after accusing her of witchcraft, a court heard on Monday.

Two of the four police officers arrested for alleged ritual murder of a 26-year-old man in Aba, Mr. Onyekachi Chukwu, have been dismissed by the police authorities.
Chukwu was allegedly murdered by the policemen attached to the Federal Highway patrol unit of the Nigeria Police, Aba section on the pretext that he was an armed robber. His mutilated body was later found in a dump site at Akpa Village in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.
More than 20 skulls and decomposing bodies were also found at the dump.

A corpse of an 11-year-old boy, Master Umar Saleh was found semi-concealed in a polythene bag in Rumde Baru ward in Yola North local government area of Adamawa State.
The mutilated body was discovered by a passerby who quickly raised an alarm. His eyes, tongue, nose, ears and genitals were severed. According to the father of the victim, Mallam Sale Usman, the family had been looking for the victim for five days following his failure to return home.
