There is a growing incident of lynching and murder of suspected witches in different parts of Africa. This wave of witch hunting targets elderly people particularly women. In Nigeria, a court has rejected the bail application of three persons accused of killing a 70-year old woman, Mrs Rebecca Adewumi, for witchcraft. Read full story here

250 elderly people suspected to be witches in Kilifi have been killed since 2008 – 2012, the chairman Malindi District Cultural Association Emmanuel Munyaya has said. Read more here 

Zambia: Chieftainess Malembeka ejects 8 for witchcraft

CHIEFTAINESS Malembeka of Mpongwe District has banished eight self-confessed wizards and witches from her chiefdom. The suspected sorcerers include four Congolese women who have since been deported to their country of origin.Chieftainess Malembeka said one of the wizards was from Ibenga area and the other one from Chilenga Village who openly confessed to practising witchcraft. Zimbabwe: Zimbabwean man’s sperms used by witch Dr to ‘fertilise clients’

A  MUTASA man is claiming that a local sangoma has been using his sperms for fertilisation purposes. The sangoma who is also his ex-mother- in- law, has been harvesting his sperms for the past three years and using them to fertilise over 10 women who visited her seeking help in conceiving, but is now refusing to pay up.
