India: Widow Branded as Witch, Thrashed

12th of November: A 39-year-old widow was allegedly thrashed brutally by her in-laws, who branded her as a witch in Bhinar village of Vansada taluka in Navsari district. The woman was branded witch as her sister-in-law’s husband suffered from diabetes and her husband died after prolonged illness in early 2012. India: Villager killed Over Suspicion of Witchcraft

November the 12th: On November the 1st police recovered the body of 45 year old Yeshwant Shanya Wadu, from Dongripada hamlet of Vaki, with multiple injuries. The body was sent for postmortem and a case of accidental death was registered at that time. However, the deceased’s son later lodged a complaint with police stating that his parents were brutally beaten by fellow villager – Nilesh Mohan Lolka, aged 25, as he suspected them of practising witchcraft. India: Mother and Daughter Hacked to Death for ‘Witchcraft’

12th of November: A 50-year-old woman and her daughter were hacked to death in Khunti district late on Monday for allegedly practising witchcraft. Fulo Topono and her 30-year-old daughter Suggi were dragged out of their house on Monday night by a group of 12 villagers who took them into a nearby forest and slit their throats. Though the older woman died immediately, Suggi was stabbed several times before she passed away. Read more here.

Nigeria: Boy,15, Tortured for Four Hours and into a Coma

A 15 year old boy, Asuquo Edet  from  Akwa Ibom State – Nigeria was tortured for more than four hours before finally being axed on the head to a state of coma by around ten assailants over the allegation of using witchcraft to kill his father. The assailants beat him with wire, machetes, horsewhip, rods and spine-sticks and poured urine and ‘combine’ on his wounds. Kenya: Villagers Lynch Mentally Challenged Woman on Suspicion of Being a Witch

On the 13th November, Keziah Monchari Okengo aged 78, was hacked to death after she wandered into a homestead at Manyatta village in Gucha South. The owner of the homestead, a 23 year old man, claimed the elderly woman knocked at his door at 2am prompting him to raise alarm. Villagers responded to the alarm and descended on the woman, killing her instantly. Read more here.

Uganda: Man Murdered in Human Sacrifice in Nakasongola

13th November: Police in Nakifuuma, Nakasongola arrested eight people in connection to the murder of 22-year-old Juma Kawuma’s. Juma’s body was found dumped in Nakifuuma Sub County tied with a rug around his neck. Read more here.
